Residential Recovery Program

What is Peer-to-Peer Addiction Recovery?

Experience has shown us that the power of one addict helping another through the process of recovery is unparalleled. The Transformations program operates on a ‘Therapeutic Community Model’ where residents of the community are encouraged and supported to run the day to day program, mentor each other, support each other, and confront one another’s destructive behaviours. Through this model, the community is the principal means of promoting personal change to make lasting recovery possible.

Benefits of Peer-to-Peer Recovery

”In a therapeutic community, there is a focus on social, psychological and behavioural dimensions of substance use, with the use of the community to heal individuals emotionally, and support the development of behaviours, attitudes and values of healthy living” (Definition taken from Australasian Therapeutic Communities Association website). The Therapeutic Community as a method feels like family and relational rather than institutional or clinical. The TC family teaches individuals about themselves through intense experiences and encourages residents to develop empathy, responsibility, self-respect and respect for others. While structured therapeutic groups are a part of the TC, much of the actual transformation happens by working together, living together, relaxing together, problem-solving, communicating with and teaching each other. All aspects of the TC experience are foundational in establishing an individual’s identity and directing them towards independence to manage their recovery after leaving the program.

Why Choose the Transformations Residential Recovery Program?

The power of the Therapeutic Community accompanied by our professional staff and case management model is the best solution for your recovery. Our case management focuses on each resident’s individualised treatment plan across various social goals, biological goals and emotional and cognitive needs whilst introducing a proven faith supported foundation.
Clients receive one to one counselling regularly from accredited professionals to deal with more complex underlying trauma and mental health needs. Week to week recreational activities and exercise are introduced to create healthy new alternatives. Family intervention and relationship support are offered at different stages to promote healthy new interactions as clients progress with communication and social skills. Transformations is committed to seeing clients develop healthy relationships, achieve their goals and champion them for success.

Program Overview

The Transformations Program is made up of four phases, and the average duration of each stage is 12 weeks.

Assessment Phase

4 WEEKS
Clients are given a chance to get familiar with their new surroundings and are offered support in adjusting to new routines and beginning the path to recovery.

First Stage

SELF-AWARENESS
Clients begin to take responsibility for themselves and their recovery. Through the therapeutic community, clients are made aware of their behaviours and enter into daily disciplines and routines.

Second Stage

INNER HEALING
By the second stage, clients are now ready to engage in some of the underlying issues of their addiction, such as trauma, abuse, relationship breakdowns, grief and loss. They begin to receive one-on-one counselling and psychotherapy to work through the healing process.

Third Stage

LEADERSHIP
By stage three, having received breakthrough and understanding of the underlying issues and cycles of addiction, clients are now ready to step into their assigned greater levels of responsibility within the community, including mentoring earlier stage clients.

Fourth Stage

TRANSITION
Stage four clients are carrying out their personalised plan of transition into healthy living using the tools they have learnt through the program, such as goal setting, relapse prevention and healthy boundaries. Clients are still volunteering in the community during this stage.
